PSA's inspection/condition assessment
service package includes
nondestructive testing of
boilers, particularly near drum regions that are susceptible to
accelerated metal wastage and corrosion. We have inspected hundreds of
thousands of tubes using OmniScan™ and
AccuScan™, automated ultrasonic scanning systems designed to
quickly and accurately assess the condition of generating tubes in the
near drum region.
Our highly qualified field engineers have a thorough understanding of
boiler operations, thus providing more than simple data collection.
Comprehensive knowledge, with reliable results provided by
OmniScan™ / AccuScan™ allows PSA to interpret
significant amounts of data on-site.
By using
ultrasonic technology and a two-axis scanner drive unit, tubes are
reliably scanned for thinning areas. Interpretation is key to
determining the cause of tube thinning, as well as how it will affect
pressure part life. Multicolor tube scans provide instant visual
recognition of problem areas.
|
OmniScan™ / AccuScan™ Features |
 |
Scan up to 400 tubes per 12-hour shift |
Maximum scan length of 5-1/2" |
Average tube scan consists of over
20,000 individual UT
readings |
Locate indications or thinning via
precise two-axis encoding |
Uses standard 110V power supply |
No need to completely flood the tubes
with water |
Accurate to within +/- .005" |
For flexibility, scans can be viewed in A-, B-, or C-scan formats, as
well as in a C-scan three-dimensional mode that provides the operator
a wider range of tools to interpret irregularities. The compact
scanner size allows access to tubes other systems can't reach, which
may eliminate the need to remove welded baffles or brackets.

Plant personnel will
be provided with a written report that includes pertinent findings and
recommendations, as well as maps and data distribution graphs of
tested areas. The report is compatible with our
MIDAS™
(Material Integrity Data Acquisition Software) database software
for managing test information.
